Holger Weinert
Chatterton Award Recipient 1998
Holger Weinert (1967 in Bonn/Germany) studied Electrical Engineering at
the Aachen University of Technology (RWTH Aachen), where he received his
degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in 1994. The same year he joined the scientific staff
of the Institute of High Voltage Engineering of the RWTH Aachen. His activities
are focused on current interruption with vacuum switching devices. He is
engaged with testing contact materials for vacuum circuit breakers and
EMTP-simulations of switching
overvoltages caused by multiple reignitions. His current research activities
are concentrated on the reignition behaviour after high frequency current
interruption with small contact gaps, especially on the post arc current
period after current zero. At present he is going to receive his Ph.D.
degree from the RWTH Aachen. In May 1999 he will join the Klöckner
Moeller GmbH in Bonn/Germany.
