
Kentaro Usui was born on September 20, 1980, in Japan. He received his B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Nagoya University, Japan, in 2003. Presently, he is a Master course student at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Nagoya University. His research activities are concentrated on the surface charging mechanism on alumina dielectrics in vacuum for the application of higher voltage Vacuum Interrupter (VI).The Chatterton Award was given for his contribution and presentation of "Influence of Alumina Characteristics on Charging Mechanism in Vacuum," printed in the Proceedings of the XXIst ISDEIV, Yalta, Ukraine, Sept. 27-Oct. 1, 2004, pp. 114-117.
